Capture cards are sign of the times at YCD

“When a customer wishes to place live video from a source such as a camera, gaming console, mobile device or set-top box, we include a Datapath capture card in our hardware build,” explains Ido Aviram, Director of Operations at YCD. “This allows seamless integration with our playback engine to support the highest quality possible.”
Collectively the Datapath Vision range of capture cards allow the capture of video and audio sources including Composite video (and S-Video), capture of UHD video up to 4096 x 2160p at 60fps (HDMI and Component), serial digital interface (SD-SDI, HD-SDI and 3G-SDI), PC graphics (DVI and analogue RGB), analogue audio and digital audio. Datapath cards also provide an analogue line out pass option for audio sources.
“A good example of capture card use is when a customer in the retail market would like to present a demonstration of an application on a large screen, but still be able to utilise this screen for other content when no demonstrations are taking place, i.e. passive loop to demonstration, then back to passive loop when the demonstration ends,” says Mr. Aviram.
YCD has used Datapath products in all types of digital signage installations, including retail, fashion and corporate.
“Around 50% of our installations in the US include a Datapath capture card,” he says. “There are numerous attributes of the cards that we like, such as automatic identification of the input, ease of use, performance, quality of signal and low latency. We plan to continue using Datapath capture cards moving forward.”
