HIGH SPEED OPTICAL EXTENSION
The Datapath PCI Express Optical Expansion Kit is a solution that allows system builders and integrators to combine a PCIe based PC or motherboard to multiple expansion chassis. Enabling greater flexibility and larger distributed system architecture, the PCI Express Optical Expansion Kit can be used to create systems with greater distances between the host PC and expansion chassis.
OPTICAL EXPANSION KIT
The Optical Expansion Kit includes a Host Link Optical and Slave Link Optical PCI Express card connected together using the ExCable-Optical. These combined provide a high bandwidth PCI Express link from an upstream host to a distributed expansion unit. PCI Express Gen.3 technology supports bi-directional data transfer speeds of up to 8GB/s ensuring smooth, full frame rate video distribution over great distances. The Optical Expansion Kit also works with Gen.2 PCI Express backplanes which can provide up to 4 GB/s bidirectional bandwidth between chassis.
The users of the PCI Express Optical Expansion Link can use this with systems based on multiple Datapath backplanes as part of a distributed wall control architecture.Additionally the Optical Expansion Kit automatically adjusts between PCI Express Gen.1, Gen.2 and Gen.3 operation depending on endpoint capabilitiesThe ExCable-Optical a fully locking optical cable which can support the full PCIe 3.0 signalling speeds. The low profile PCI Express plug-in card format allows the HLink-Optical to be used in compact server cases offering half height x8 PCIe slots, as well as in a full height slot in a Datapath VSN host. The HLink-Optical can be configured to link to a single SLink-Optical as a x8 or two SLink-Optical cards, each operating in x4 mode.
A fully locking optical cable which can support the full PCIe 3.0 signalling speeds. Electrically isolated optical cable with a low EMC signature. Available in lengths of 50m and 100m.
The Slink-Optical card plugs into a standard PICMG1.3 system board slot in a distributed system backplane. Typically the SLink-Optical would be used with the Datapath family of active backplanes that are available either as card products or as the heart of the Datapath VSN family of wall controllers.
Automatically configures to operate in x4 to x8 mode.
